Humans can be a resource in the context of organisations and communities but they are HUMAN BEINGS first - they should be perceived, treated and designed for thus. Every human being ASPIRES for a higher reality, create and be a part of something greater than themselves - that is the fundamental reason for aligning & collaborating with like-minded people, sharing similar values & purpose in the form of organisations and communities. Productivity, profit and passion can be great drivers - but GROWTH & MEANING still remain the primary aspirations because of which an individual would like to align and stick with the collective in the long run. The current "EXPERIENCE ECONOMY" cannot out-run the significance of the above-mentioned factors. EMOTIONAL FULFILMENT and not just emotional wellness or management should be the goal.
In the last more than 2 decades of Design experience and more than 4.5 decades of intense Life experience, we understand that the greatest obstacles to TRANSFORMATION are human mindsets and collective politics/ drama. If physical design is the hardware for transformation, MINDSET CHANGE is the software for it. All drama or politics or lack of authenticity arises from the unhealed parts of the individual and collective psyche and need to be addressed honestly and compassionately. Cultural Entropy can be overcome. I shared this with a friend recently - ."If I spend atleast 40 hrs/ week of my life at a place...I want to be treated as a valued human being & live to my highest potential = self-actualize & not as piece of well-oiled machinery. I want to grow as a human being, live my purpose & not wait till 60 when I am too old to do it". Being in an enabling environment & working to one's highest potential is self-actualization.
Through our personal lived and processed life-experience, we know that SELF-ACTUALIZATION at work is possible for an individual and for an organisation! Purpose: To create clarity and awareness about who you are as an individual, "who your organisation is", who you are in the organisation amd who you can or cannot be in the organisation. Does your designation & CV define you? Are you carrying your designation or role to other aspects of your life? Can you be what you aspire to be your in your organisation? Is there a basic resonance between who you are and what your organisation is? Let's look into the mirror, go a little deeper...and gain insightful realizations!

Purpose: Fostering deep, empathic & democratic communication in an organisation
Listening is the gateway to Empathy which in turn is the gateway to the Evolution of an Individual and that of an organisation. We must listen to the other not just with our ears and eyes, but with our heart and soul. Only then we can understand the sub-text and where the other person is coming from. Talking is only half the communication - deep, empathic listening is what creates actual communication and generates meaningful connections. Feeling listened to = feeling valued in an organisation.

Together they create a composite and honest/ authentic Organisational or Community Culture. Everyone must feel an equal participant and take ownership - this can only happen when there is an integration of top-down empathetic leadership and bottom-up integration of community aspirations. When the hidden aspects of the Company Culture iceberg are taken into cognizance, addressed, transformed for the good of all stakeholders - an organisation/ community becaomes AUTHENTIC - lives & embodies its values honestly.
Last Social Impact Workshop by be ZEN Design was conducted in the form of Webinar for a 200-strong IT-team of AstraZeneca, Chennai in April 2020 during 1st Lockdown of Covid-19 crisis with the focus on empowering and transforming mindsets from analytical & problem-oriented to creative & solution-oriented, ergonomics & establishing Home-Office Design Guidelines & Standard for different sections of the organisation.
